The Female Golfers Crushing It Right Now

They don’t get near the attention or television coverage they deserve, but the LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) is just as – if not more exciting as the PGA Tour.

Due to COVID-19 postponements, 2021 is set to be the best LPGA season in the history of the tour. This year they will have five major tournaments, the Solheim Cup (Ryder Cup for the Ladies), and the Olympics!

The best way to enjoy watching these events is to find someone to cheer for, and with that in mind, let us highlight some of the golfers absolutely crushing it. Be forewarned – you may be inspired to snag new golf clubs after reading about these amazing athletes.

The Korda Sisters: It Runs in the Family

Jessica and Nelly Korda are sisters both ranked in the top 20 of Rolex Rankings World Golf Rankings. Nelly is currently sitting at 4th and her older sister Jessica is 17th. (On a side note, their younger brother Sebastian is an up-and-coming tennis professional, but we digress.)

The Korda sisters were recently on the cover of Golf Digest due to their achievements on the course. Both hit it long and have amazing touch around the green, making them both great options to follow during championships.

In the first event of 2021 they played together on the last day in the final group. Ultimately, Jessica won the tournament, the Diamond Resorts Tournament of Champions Presented by IOA, by making a 25-foot birdie putt on the first playoff hole!

Lexi Thompson: Bombing It Since She was 12

Lexi Thompson is only 25 years old, but it seems as if she’s been a mainstay in golf for a long time. As a golf phenom since a very young age, the world first saw her at age 12, when she became the youngest woman to ever qualify for the Women’s US Open. She turned professional by the age of 15 and was runner-up in a major during her first season.

Lexi is currently ranked #11 in the World Golf Rankings and currently has 11 career victories on the LPGA Tour. She is arguably the longest hitter on tour.

Haley Moore: Rising Above the Noise

Haley will be a rookie on tour this year and she comes to the tour with a heart retching yet inspiring story. Haley suffered from bullying throughout school and struggled with her self-image. Fortunately she has been able to overcome these challenges and has chosen to speak openly about her struggles while becoming a dominant player on the course.

During the LPGA tour pandemic break she competed in 11 events on the Cactus Tour, winning three. Her third victory on this mini tour included a final day score of 62 when no one else was able to shoot below 70. She made it through all three stages of the LPGA’s qualifying school (Q-School) and will play on the LPGA Tour in 2021.

If you are looking for someone to cheer for, you might want to start tracking Haley’s results.

These are just a few of the interesting individuals you can find on the LPGA Tour. There are many other golfers that bring their own flair, talent, and stories that will surely make 2021 an incredible year for the sport.
